Sustainability is at the core of everything we do. We’ve signed on with Ridwell, an innovative recycling company that has found a solution to “wish-cycling” – the widespread problem of people trying to recycle items like prescription bottles, bread tags, and pens that cannot be accepted by standard municipal recycling programs. Ridwell provides us with a convenient doorstep collection service to properly recycle these hard-to-recycle household items that would otherwise end up in landfills.
Ridwell’s trucks make 50-120 stops per day to pick up clearly labeled bags of niche recyclables from homes and businesses. All the collected materials are then sorted at their warehouses and sent to specialist recyclers or re-use partners that can process them into new products or donate reusable goods to local nonprofits. By giving us an easy way to responsibly dispose of random household items, Ridwell is helping us divert valuable materials from landfills while catering to our sustainability goals.
Established in 1993 in San Francisco, we were founded on a love for Yosemite National Park and began by taking small groups exploring using eco-friendly vehicles. In order to minimize the environmental impact of our business on the destinations we visit, we operate our vehicles on sustainable, petroleum-free biofuel made from recycled cooking oil and renewable plant-based stocks. Our fleet is made up of mini-coaches which all proudly run on petroleum-free renewable fuel sourced from our own fuel station, Dogpatch Biofuels!
